The sun filtered in
through the leaves above
Onto my book left open on the grass below,
Forming rings of light that danced along to the wind.
I looked at the picnic blanket
from where I just got up.
My heart filling with love
Just looking at him sleeping peacefully next to me.
People ask, when did I know he was the one.
When I hugged him for the first time,
and peace filled me instantly,
Like this was the home I didn't know I was waiting for.
In beautiful places with no souls around,
On dance floors and live concerts
I long to hold his hand
And dance a silly dance.
In normal everydays of routines
I long for him to be in the next room.
Even his silent invisible presence
Making the mundane a lot more bearable.
He is sleeping peacefully, one elbow over his eyes.
I laid back down, put an arm around him.
He put his palm over mine , still in sleep.
A decade down the lane, he is still the home
I didn't know I was waiting for.
